Add-on finials and pedestal base turn your grate’s uprights into stately andirons
Three finial styles and one base fit all sizes of Texas Fireframe grates. Since they are not welded onto the grate but are secured with hidden set screws, you can always add finials later if you don’t purchase them with your grate. They arrive separately from the grate via the post office. Grates ship by UPS.
Now you can turn the uprights on your Texas Fireframe grate into elegant, built-in andirons. Our finials and bases are made by a master craftsman using traditional foundry techniques. Known for his exquisite restorations of ironwork on landmark properties, our designer created three finial styles and a sturdy pedestal base exclusively for our grates. These heavy-duty accessories are made in the USA of cast iron, and will add year-round beauty to your fireplace. The finials add to the height, but the pedestal base adds no height since the front leg of the grate slides right through it. Each one secures firmly in place with the hidden set screw provided. Use finials alone or paired with pedestals. Select your style on the order page. You’ll have the look of andirons in your fireplace for much less than what you’d spend on a separate pair.
Mission Finial
Adding 2 inches to the overall height of your uprights, the handsome Mission finial is inspired by a historic andiron from the Arts & Crafts movement. Because of its lower profile, we recommend the Mission finial for smaller fireplaces. However, it’s massive enough to be proportional with our largest grate, making it suitable for any size fireplace or any model of Texas Fireframe grate.
Tudor Finial
Adding 5 inches to the overall height of your uprights, the Tudor finial is a dramatic addition to your fireplace. When using a 15” tall Standard or Large grate, you must have at least 20.5” from the floor of your fireplace to the smoke guard, or upper opening of your fireplace, for Tudor finials to be fully visible. If you have a 13” tall Compact grate, you’ll need at least a 19” vertical clearance.
Ball Finial
Adding 3 inches to the overall height of your uprights, this perfect sphere is a classic andiron design, and it’s quite substantial – thus the slightly higher price. Your fireplace opening should be 19” or higher. Scroll down to see how elegant the Ball finial is when paired with our Pedestal base.
